The Red Lion Hotel is an historical Grade I listed building (1465) located in the town centre of historic Colchester.
The hotel is located in the town centre and has excellent transport links to the M11, M25, Stansted Airport, Cambridge and Harwich.
There are numerous shops nearby including well-known chain stores and smaller, boutique style shops. A quiet retreat from the modern world outside, the hotel's Tudor features and warm red and gold fabrics provide a luxurious and relaxing environment in which to enjoy your stay.
This 14th century hotel has great historical connections to Oliver Cromwell and the notorious death of Alice Miller, who is said to haunt the property!

- Take the A12 to Colchester via the M11 or M25.
- Follow signs to the city centre which brings you to the high street.
Parking:
Please note that there is no car park attached to the hotel, however there is an NCP car park only 5 minutes walk away (at an additional cost, paid directly at the NCP car park). The hotel suggest that you stop in the loading area outside the hotel and offload your baggage first. Prior to your stay, The Red Lion can send you full directions to the car park, which is only a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
By Rail:
Colchester North services are located 4.8 km (3 miles) from the hotel and taxis are readily available.
By Air:
Stansted is the nearest airport (48.2 km / 30 miles). Buses and taxis are readily available, as is the rail network which is linked to Colchester.
By Sea:
Harwich is located a short drive away (20 km / 12.4 miles), where links to the continent can be found.
